Follow me on twitter
I’ve lately on twitter experienced spam follows - profiles who have overnight increased follower count by 2,000, 4,000 by maybe mlm techniques- others with even 10,20,30,000 and more follows and friends and/or who follow-unfollow every two days; auto DM links to their sites and videos, follow/unfollow to improve a number, grade, rank and climb up the social media ladder etc.
Added to this confusion has been the many gurus, experts and mavens discussing the above issue with analysis and links to articles, debates, views etc many of which are repeatedly re-tweeted.
Who to follow, who to ignore, what to read, what to click on - the smallest decision on twitter now becomes fraught with new trust issues.
Hence I have cleaned up my list of some and followed/followed back most of you who have been with me on twitter journey since the start and new friends who in any case I was following. Protecting twitter updates from public timeline now.
In case I have missed you, I’m sorry. Pls. unfollow/follow me, send me an @ message - so I know you genuinely wish and like to be here.
As I’d say it on twitter in 140 characters or less - ❤☺☹☠✰♩♫♬♯♪♭♫✔❣ :)
Update : My follow-unfollow policy is:
I follow- Most people who follow me, talk to me, who have interesting updates, are active, participate in conversations, help others by sharing useful links and such.
I will not follow/unfollow you if:
You persist in use of inappropriate language/ using the F word (and/or its indian equivalent) all the time in your updates. Any update that expresses hate or prejudice - to any sex, animals, religion, country, race, personal freedom etc. If your twitter timeline is only a RSS feed of your blog/site. (or only consists of RTs and links) I do not follow brands that have no human face or responses behind the account. I also do not normally follow celebrity journalists, politicians and film stars whose updates are most likely managed by agencies or ghost writers.
I think that copy/paste of email autoforwards is not intelligent. I’d rather have your genuine update that reflects you than someone else’s thoughts copy pasted in a lame attempt to be seen as humorous or inspirational. It neither makes you more interesting or cool than you aspire to be.
Update: My updates are now again public after having deleted more than 900 profiles. I hope I did not delete real people thinking them to be bots & spammers, but I suspect I did. :(
While the peace lasted for a short while, the spammers seem to be back and some of my friends have opted for protected updates. Hope twitter gets it right soon.
